The Hamilton 7: A Monthly Night of Storytelling at the Staircase

“People are hungry for stories. It’s part of our very being. Storytelling is a form of history, of immortality too. It goes from one generation to another. ”
— Studs Terkel

Founded in May of 2016 the Hamilton 7 is a local collective of storytellers who host a monthly storytelling night at The Staircase Cafe Theatre.  Come join us for a gathering of finely crafted tales from professional local tellers from diverse experiences and realities.

In a city full of stories, Organizer and collective member Lisa Pijuan-Nomura asked 8 of the cities best professional storytellers to be a part of an experiment. The group gathered biweekly for the six months to play in the creation and telling of stories from our own lives, from historical tales and imagined histories. Creating an organic process in which to craft our stories, the group works together as writers, creators, collaborators, directors, dramaturges and performers. After the completion of the experimental phase together we decided it was time to bring some of our finest tales to Hamilton audiences.

The group of tellers is a truly great mix of artists from the world of music, dance, theatre, and visual art.
